Removing OAN and AWE is a mistake for Verizon

Are we really back to removing what we don't agree with? As an adult in life we learn to avoid things we don't like or agree with. It's like telling the child that has an issue with sharing a toy that they should just smash it as a way to solve their issues with sharing! In my opinion it would be a huge mistake for Verizon to remove OAN. When I see that you're thinking of removing AWE (also owned by Herring networks) i have to believe it's an attack on Larry Herring and that is just wrong!

Exactly correct. I hope verizon goes bankrupt with all the fake news propaganda networks they support.

Earlier Quote: "OAN is not a news station. It is an extreme right wing advertising channel. All it does is put fear into people about the border, inflation, the big lie, etc. it’s all propaganda and we as a people don’t need this type of rhetoric. I hope they remove Newsmax as well same garbage. In the beginning they were decent stations but now they are terrible."

So using your criteria "it’s all propaganda", MSNBC and CNN are also not news stations and should also be removed (cough, cough, I mean made into premium channels) ?

Get real. You don't speak for me "as a people". Anyone who believes in censorship does not speak for me and never will. Learn how to change the channel and wake up before someone decides to effectively remove content that YOU don't agree with.

One of the few channels that I regularly tune into is being discontinued. I hope they reach an agreement to continue. It's good content for me and a welcome relief to all the dross on so many of the channels.

Do I know which side is telling the truth about the negotiations? I do not.

Would I be willing to pay a reasonable premium price to keep OAN on Verizon? Only if Verizon does not get to keep a single penny of it. They are already taking too much of my money. Bad behavior should not be rewarded.

Would I move to a DVR capable competitor if they carried OAN and religious channel 3ABN? Yup.

Verizon knows their competitors aren’t carrying OAN. So they can put the screws to Herring, knowing that their customers can’t just jump over to a competitor.

While I would gladly pay the price for OAN Live, LIVE is not how I watch TV. I watch EVERYTHING through DVR and On Demand streaming. I leave my DVR tuned to the news channels I watch. Then I can back up the hour, and skim through to watch just the stories I want to learn more about. Or I record them to watch later.

OAN is just now gearing up to do On Demand. But as far as I know, they will not have the ability to host the last hour of coverage online to be watched/skimmed at will. Or the ability to record and keep particular stories to show others later, before new news drops and that story gets lost from the lineup. This is where DVR is superior.

So the real question remains: Is Verizon playing hardball and really trying to get the best bang for the buck for their customers, or has Verizon already done the math and figured the number of customers that will actually dump them is an acceptable loss?

The one thing we can all be sure of is that the timing of this issue has absolutely nothing to do with the way One America would be covering the elections this fall.

I agree, removing OAN is a big mistake for Verizon

I applaud Verizon for getting rid of OAN.  They were the source of disinformation and conspiracy theories and should not be confused with news in any way.

Hate to tell you but OAN is a more truthful news source than CNN and MSNBC combined. You know the old saying- If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Obviously you do.

OAN is a cauldron of conspiracy theories and disinformation. No wonder they are being sued for millions of dollars from folks they have demonized  (and put in danger) with made-up election conspiracy theories. It's bad enough that I am paying about $2/month for Fox News (and some of you may feel that way about paying $0.35 for MSNBC)  but I don't want to pay for stations with even sloppier journalism. Kudos to Verizon for removing OAN.

Every news channel has been sued for one thing or another- especially CNN for their derogatory and false reporting. So don’t just say OAN is being sued. OAN has more guts to put truthful topics on the air that aren’t being reported on any other channel. Don’t like it? Don’t watch it!

It's incomprehensible how people could be so fooled by fake news propaganda networks such as CNN, MSDNC, CBS, etc. Start researching their lies one day. Man, will you be angry.

Robert Herring says he offered to let Verizon carry both OAN and AWE for free, and Verizon refused the offer.

It will be a frigid day in hell before I ever use or recommend your lousy services. You made the wrong choice to discontinue one of the few remaining true news networks out there. (OAN) I hope you go bankrupt with all of your fake news, (propaganda) networks.

Put me on the list of really angry Verizon customers who are incensed that the are removing a great news channel like OAN while the crappy news of CNN MSNBC CNBC and all the mainstream media including FOX is allowed to continue their left leaning propaganda into our homes. Time to start evaluating the antenna and the streaming services using anyone other than Verizon. And dropping all wireless plans too. Who is sick of woke corporations force their views on usi sure am.

Agreed I am dropping cable because of Verizon hypocrisy lose MSNBC or CNN who have lower ratings

Verizon, I don't think you're being 100% honest to your customers by stating that you and Larry Herring couldn't come up with a mutual agreement to keep them on.

Are you sure there wasn't another reason?
