For some reason, I thought that 2012 was already available on-demand (as it is already out on DVD), and I went to rent it the other night via on-demand.  I searched for the movie, and got only one result" 2012: Supernova.  Fortunately, I watched the trailer first and realized that it was a cheesey rip-off of the major film.  Yet, somehow, VZ feels compelled to charge $5 to watch this piece of garbage.

So my question is, does anyone know when 2012 will become available on-demand, and has anyone fallen victim to such cheesey schemes?

It depends entirely on the studio.  Most do NOT release movies OnDemand "day-and-date" with a DVD release.. However, one or two usually do (Warners being one that usually can be counted on).  Sony does occasionally, but often holds back on the blockbuster titles (in order to push the retail sales).  Plus, they might need the extra time to cho off 1/3 of the picture  as well..  Such is the case with 2012.

On the plus side, smaller, independent films are now premiering OnDemand HD months before any non-HD DVD even is scheduled!
