Can't delete some recordings

On one of my two CHS435HDC DVRs I am unable to delete some of my old recordings. The number of those that can't be deleted has slowly been increasing over the recent months. I've rebooted numerous times. Occassionally, attempting to delete a recording or group of recordings will cause an unexpected reboot. I have an attached external drive.

Any ideas?
