DVR Recordings available remotely

Not sure if the technology is there today, but since I'm able to login to a computer and see/delete items from my DVR recording lists, will it ever be possible to watch a recording remotely as well? Say from my mobile or iPad?

Not available without purchasing some equipment, like slingboxes.
