Does anyone think the remote app for Wifi Smartphones should be ported to Windows and Apple?

I would like the same remote control application available for the desktop. Wireless on the laptop or hardwired on the network. How many times did you have to get up from the computer to find the remote. I am not taking remote DVR programming, but remote control. It is available on some smartphones, Apple IPOD and IPAD. Why not the desktop?

Its only been 8 years waiting for this basic feature...Verizon obviously has no intentions of providing this. Comcast has this app and works fantasticly
