Does Verizon offer the NBA League Pass in HD. All the games are now broadcast in HD through the local netwroks. My buddy told me I would have to pay Verizon extra $$$ to get all the games in HD. Is this true?
I'm not ordering NBA League Pass unless all the games are in HD. I alread yknow NBATv games are in HD, but I want to know if the League Pass games are going to be in HD?

Ok. Just got off the phone with Verizon and here is their answer:
"The NBA League Pass will be shown in HD once the Free Trial is over. Direct TV and Comcast are not offering the games in HD either until the Free Trial is over."
I don't know if there is any truth to this because you would think they would show the games in HD for the free trial to get more people to purchase the league pass. Sounds fishy. Then he tried to get me to sign up today for the league pass after I just told him I did not want it unless the package was in HD.
I'm going to wait until after the free trial is over and ask some of my buddies if all the games are in HD.
He tried to convince me to order it and he'll make a "note" on my account to refund all my money for the league pass if it is not in HD. You can only imagine what aheadache that would be trying to get my money back.
WOW!!!! thats the biggest LIE I EVER HEARD!!!! the only provider that shows EVERY GAME in HD on NBA league PASS is directv!!!!!,I know that for a fact,because i was with directv before i switched to fios! directv shows every game in HD on nba league pass, verizon fios only shows up to 2 games in hd on league pass ,but you do get all the the nba games shown on NBA TV, ESPN,TNT, and ABC in HD, on verizon fios.
I think part of the reason verizon told you that is because some of the csrs dont even know what the nba is!!! seriously when i tried to get the nba league pass in october the csr told me i couldnt order it until next year because baseball season was over!!!,It took me 3 different phone calls to finally get a csr who could get me info on when i could order nba league pass,unbelieveable but true! ,I'm guessing the csr you spoke with probalby thinks the games shown on TNT ,ESPN,ETC.ETC. are the legue pass games but as you know there not!
I am so upset. I just left DirecTV for FIOS today....tonight is my first time playing with this new toy......and I just found out that only 1 or 2 games a night on NBA League Pass are broadcast in HD. In fact, I was told the same holds true for MLB Extra Innings!!
I would have never, never, never left DirecTV if I knew that the NBA and MLB stations on FIOS were going to be broadcasting so few HD games. This is completely insane. FIOS is supposed to be THE KING of HD.....beautiful HD picture and wonderful Digital sound......but they DON'T broadcast most the MLB and NBA games in HD??? What am I missing here?? DirecTV broadcasts almost ALL OF THE NBA League Pass and MLB Extra Innings games in HD!! To say that I am disappointed would be the understatement of the day!!
LostandConfused -- that is because DirecTV contracts directly with the NBA for those HD games. Verizon, and other cable companies, use a third-party company called inDemand which currently only has 2 HD feeds.
The post above is 100% correct. In Demand is the distributor of MLB Extra Innings, NHL Center Ice and NBA League Pass. They have 2 HD channels dedicated to these packages and that is it. In the past 5 years, I have had Time Warner, Comcast and now FIOS as a result of living in three different areas of the NY/NJ area and that has been the case with all three systems as I have Center Ice and Extra Innings.
In Demand has to decide to make more HD games available. If it does, than the respective cable systems than must set aside the HD channels. With 95% of all games broadcast in HD, theres is NO reason whatsoever that these games are not shown in HD, especially with all of the money we pay for these pacakges.

However, I must state that I am EXTREMELY disappointed by this news, and i am sure that I am by far not the only one who feels this way.
For a company like Verizon FIOS to offer the NBA League Pass for the SAME DOLLARS that DirecTV is charging BUT offer less games in Hi-Def is simply Highway Robbery. And when I say "offer less games in HD", I am being more then kind.
Heck, on DirecTV almost all of the games are offering in HD.....AND....many times you get to decide whether you want to watch and listen to the Home Team OR the Visiting Team. Verizon FIOS is simply offering an inferior product no matter how you look at it.
Lastly, it is simply mind-boggling to me that the NBA allows these type of differences to exist for their NBA League Pass offering.
