The screen goes black for 3-15 seconds on a random basis, probably 5-10 times during a 30 minute program. # tech visits and new STBs have not addressed the problem. It happens on all 3 TVs including the DVR. All 3 are using HDMI cables. The last tech on the phone said to try a set of component cables on one of the non-DVR TVs instead of the HDMI cable since the problem might be the HD trying to sync up periodically, but otherwise SOL. Sound right? Any ideas?
That does sound right, unless the sets happen to all go black all at the same time. Turn on two TV's to the same channel. Have one person watch one and you watch the other. Yell to other person when it goes black to see if its happening at the same time. If it does, that's an incoming signal problem. If not, then your likely dealing with a HDMI sync issue and to see if the component cables fix it.
