About 2 weeks ago by set-top box started shutting off randomly. It is not a remote control problem as it happens when I'm watching TV, not home, etc. I called Verizon and was sent a new set top box and the same issue is occuring. Is there a standby mode that it is going into? If so, how do you turn it off?
Verizon support is in receipt of this issue. We will send you a PM to gather additional information.
Thanks,
Tonya D.

Please make sure the vent holes on top of the box are not being blocked. They need about 2 inches to get adequate ventilation. If the box gets too hot, it will reboot itself as an immediate cooldown. Hope this information helps.
I had the same issue, got a new box, and the new box restarted at a random time today. The vents are not blocked, and the DVR never did this before I hooked up an external drive.
If this was provoked by plugging in and using the external drive, please eject the drive, plug back in and reformat it. Post back results.
Nothing is blocking the vents on my STB. It is still randomly shutting off.
@ctrouble13 If you haven't already, please respond to Tonya's private message.
