Hello All,
I've seen quite a few threads and posts floating around suggesting various channels/programs you would like to see on FiOS TV. In an effort to consolidate the information, I have decided to create this single thread about the subject. Feel free to reply to it with your suggestion(s) on what you would like to see on FiOS TV.
Please note: I make no promises as to whether or not you will see these channels/programs on FiOS TV. Though I do know that the right people here at Verizon are looking at this thread for your feedback and advice on the matter.
Regards,

Yep....Comcast just did that because they want those Flyers fans who don't have Comcast to have a hard time. I can use other words but this is a public message board.
I'm sure Comcast charges any telco carrier alot to even try and get this channel.
I guess we as Flyers fans will have to either find a local bar or find it somewhere on the Net to see these games.
I does bite that the first two games we as Fios customers will NOT be able to see them.
I called Verizon today and they have no idea about TCN will be carried if at all on Fios.
I'm looking to find other ways to see these two games and the otrher 8 during the season.
I'm sure Comcast will do the same thing for the Sixers once they start up again and the Phillies next season thats the kind of company Comcast is.

Well thats not good news.
I remember when I had Comcast last season and they showed games on CN8 (TCN) it was non HD and the reception was horrible. Even worse then SD!
Well I hope somehow Verizon can step up to the plate for us Philadelphia Flyers fans and show the 10 games.
Two of the last 3 games of the season are on TCN so I sure hope those games are not needed to clinch a playoff spot or division.

Yep last season it was 4 or 5 games if I remember right I watched them over the Net. No more CW games so Comcast will use that as an excuse to why they added to more games to the TCN channel this season.
I heard TCN was a very poor picture ....but someone said Comcast had it on a special channel for HD as well. I don't know for sure as I was with Comcast then just going by what I heard on message boards.
Yes hopefully Verizon will find a way to bring us these games.........

It would be blacked out for those of you in the Flyers home region. It looks like taking away the CW games is Comcast's way of keeping turf since they know Verizon will take away a huge chunk of subscribers. Will the myPhl Philles games be next to go to the Comcast Network?
Where I live, CSN has a CSN+ channel which is distributed a lot more. They only put one Caps game on The Comcast Network, because this game is after MASN2 bumps CSN+ on cable systems in the spring. Fortunately, there is competition with regional sports in my region, which Comcast HATES and had tried to destroy MASN for its first two years.
This leads me to a different rant- since the cable subscriber cap was struck down, Comcast is petitioning the FCC and courts, trying to be able to keep its own networks to themselves. They want to limit distribution of sports networks like they do in Philadelphia (where they don't sell CSN to satellite), and not be forced to sell it to other providers, like Verizon.

@skier66 wrote:TCN - The Comcast Network (CN8 Phila.)
Hello.
The Philadelphia Flyers announced their TV schedule today and have several games listed on TCN - The Comcast Network (CN8 when I was on Comcast). This is not CSN - Comcast Sports Net Philadelphia.
Will this channel be available when Flyers games are on this channel?
Thank you in advance.
I would not hold your breath concerning CN8/TCN ever being available on FiOS. It is Comcast’s own proprietary channel and they aren't going to let anyone else carry it. It's not a matter of Verizon deciding or not to carry the channel, Comcast won't offer it.

This page is linked from the Flyers website: "http://flyers.nhl.com/index.html" under the heading of: TV Schedule click on: TCN FAQ
and it brings you to: "http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/inner_09/comcast_faq"
which says:
Comcast Network - FAQ
What is the Comcast Network?
In the Fall of 2008, Comcast Corporation announced that CN8 would be restructured into two more locally focused networks in the Philadelphia and DC areas. The Comcast Network serves local viewers with more targeted sports programming and public affairs. The network was launched on January 6, 2009.
I don’t have Comcast Cable, how can I get The Comcast Network?
The Comcast Network is available to every TV distributor - cable, satellite and telco - that serves viewers in the network’s territory [roughly defined as the Greater Philadelphia area, including Eastern & Central PA, South NJ and Delaware, subject to league rules and restrictions]. Please contact your TV provider to request that the network be added to your lineup.
There is a Flyers game airing on The Comcast Network, but why can’t I view it in my area?
Flyers games are blacked out in the following areas in Pennsylvania due to National Hockey League rules regarding home team markets:
Huntingdon, Lewistown, Lykens, Mount Union, Philipsburg, State College
I live in the New England area and used to receive CN8, however I can no longer find the channel on my television?
Yes, all Sixers games on the Comcast Network will be made available to viewers throughout the CSN Philadelphia territory.

Comcast says its avaiable but what price to other telco's to have to offer to their customers. Agaon Comcast is bunch of {word filter avoidance} sorry I can't think of another word to call them myabe I can but it for sure wouldn't be a good one to post here.
They know Flyers love their team and want to watch the games if they can't attend so why not give it to them and try and get a few of them back to Comcast. They have a ZERO chance of me going back to them even if they offered FREE services.
Yep good luck because they will REALLY want back from Verizon and others to carry this channel its all just bull and who's the odd guys out the teams fans. Nope the NHL Network will not carry these games and if you are in the local arrea you will be blacked out viewing them on NHL Center Ice they were last season.

It's interesting that Comcast likes to say that The Comcast Network is available to every cable and satellite provider, but they refuse to make CSN Philly available to satellite. Like I stated above, Comcast is trying to keep ALL of its sports programming all to themselves. I really wonder what kind of terms TCN has for other providers to carry this garbage channel. I used to have the Mid-Atlantic version when I had Comcast, but it was completely worthless here without the exclusive sports programming.

I joined this forum just so I could join in the begging for TCN.
Please add TCN! There's no other way to get those Flyers games. Every other service I've looked at - the Center Ice package, NHL Game Day live - would have them blacked out because I live in the Philly market.

I wouldn't hold my breath. No one else carries the Comcast Network, and I'm sure there's a reason...just like the reason Comcast put these games on TCN- so they can keep them and show them exclusively on Comcast.

Caps-
TCN is available to be picked up by any carrier - Comcast even "touts" that in a PR....as with anything there's a cost - and it may be steep for this one channel (I have no idea).
But, from what I was told, VZ toyed around with picking up CN8 the past 2 years for this same reason, but never followed through with it.
I'm hoping all of these posts push them a bit...

Verizon should be doing everything in their power to get this channel. I know a lot of people who would not go to satelite because they couldn't get CSN for Philly sports. It was the deal breaker for me. As soon as I found out Verizon was carrying CSN I couldn't switch fast enough. Now, Comcast is moving more games to a channel that only they provide. It was 4 Flyers games last year and now 10 games this year. It looks as if they will add more and more games each year and if that happens I will be going back to Comcast. Good thing my contract is up before the season starts so I will be able switch before it starts.
Remember: Comcast OWNS the Flyers and Sixers.

Where are the Greek international channels?
Both major satellite providers have them and Verizon does not.
You are losing tons of customers as a result.

I would like to see SNY added to the line-up. In addition, what is the status of the NFL Sunday Ticket - is that a Directv exclusive? How do we get it on to FIOS????
