Hello All,
I've seen quite a few threads and posts floating around suggesting various channels/programs you would like to see on FiOS TV. In an effort to consolidate the information, I have decided to create this single thread about the subject. Feel free to reply to it with your suggestion(s) on what you would like to see on FiOS TV.
Please note: I make no promises as to whether or not you will see these channels/programs on FiOS TV. Though I do know that the right people here at Verizon are looking at this thread for your feedback and advice on the matter.
Regards,

Wow, lots of votes for NASA TV. Keep the ideas coming folks.
Guess you missed the thread a while ago from the Todd where a zillion people voted that they wanted NASA TV (well, maybe a slight exageration, but a whole lot said WE WANT IT). Most of us "geeks" (yes I admit to being one) love science and space.

Hi Kathleen,
At the top of our list is NASA TV. This is a community request. Many of the science departments in our school district use NASA TV as an instructional aid, both in the classroom and by assigning extra credit viewing assignments for homework. Prior to switching to FIOS two years ago, I personally had Dish Network, and as such, this wasn't a problem in our house. I didn't realize we would loose the channel with Fios. As a result, we have had to maintain Dish network as a local programming provider over the last two years in addition to FIOS to enable the kids to view the assigned programs. Many of my neighbors also have similar setups or are sending their kids to study groups at homes equipped to receive the channel. Given teh economy however, and as much I love teh service FIOS has provided, I am unwilling to pay two service providers on an ongoing basis simply because Verizon is not meeting the educational needs of my family or the community. Sadly, if FIOS is unwilling to offer this award winning educational channel provided to Verizon FREE by the government, I will have to cancel my FIOS service at the end of the contract term and resume full progamming from Dish Network. I'm sure our situation in Commack is not unique and that it would benefit both the public interest as well as Verizon's family friendly reputation for you to expeditiously add the NASA panoply of channels to your line up - at least in SD.

Here on Long Island - why don't we get the MSG Networks in HD? Is it some lame Cablevision thing to try to make a reason for people to subscribe to their lousy service by holding back the HD channels?

They have been telling me for a year they are getting it but I think they keep on saying this to shut me up. In the beginning they didn't even have MSG and Cabelvision gave them hell before letting them have those channels. {please keep it relevant}

That is correct. Cablevision will not let Verizon carry the HD versions. They claim that they took the initiative to produce it, so they don't have to sell it to other providers. We'll see what happens when MSG is spun off as a separate business, supposedly by the end of the year.

I'll post here to make it official:
Please return CSN+ Mid Atlantic to Howard County, MD FiOS channel line up.
I joined FiOS in January 2009 and we got CSN+ on channel 1 through the end of the Caps' 2008/09 season. Now it has been taken away.
The Washington Capitals and Wizards play their home games at Verizon Center. If it's worth paying for the naming rights to their arena then is it not worth carrying all their games?

Come on VZ - TCN Philaedelphia [edit] Comcast has made it perfectly clear that the channel IS available if VZ wants to purchase it. Tonight is ANOTHER Flyers game we'll be missing even though your sales reps in August when we signed up VERY clearly said "all Flyers games are on Fios". {please keep your posts courteous}and add TCN.

First, every big cable and sat provider except Verizon carries CSN+ in MD and VA. It baffles me why Verizon would think this channel is important enough to carry in the DC Metro area, but not include it for the rest of the CSN DC area. DirecTV has even figured out a way to carry games from The Comcast Network (DC) without carrying the whole channel.
Second, carrying The Comcast Network in the CSN Philly region would make Verizon a true competitor to Comcast. The lack of some Flyers, 76ers, and Phillies games is the only thing keeping a lot of people from leaving Comcast. This baffles me too, since we all know that Verizon execs are smart enough to know this.
I just don't get it. I have to go now so I can go to a sports bar to watch the Caps game.

I will consider switching to FiOS only if you add the Philladelphia local Channels in adition to the New York City Channels in South Brunswick Township and get rid of chanels from far away parts of New York State,Long Island and Connecticut. Phiadelphia is much closer.
Add
KYW CBS 3 SD & HD
WPVI 6 ABC SD & HD
WCAU NBC 10 SD & HD
WHYY 12 PBS SD & HD
WTXF Fox 29 SD & HD
WPHL MY PHL 17 SD & HD
WPSG CW Philly 57 SD & HD
Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia SD & HD (I don't care if the 76 games have to be blacked out to keep the NBA happy)
Drop
WLNY 55 Riverhead, NY 111 Miles Away
WRNN 48 Kingston/Fishkill NY over 102 Miles away
WSAH 42 Bridgeport, CT 119 Miles away

I don't see that happening. South Brunswick is in the NYC DMA for local channels, and it's designated as a New York market by the major sports. Adding a Philadelphia regional sports network would be useless since no live games could be shown, and it would be illegal to carry Philadelphia local channels there. I guess the three channels you don't want are carried there because they are located within the New York City DMA.

Mercer County witch borders South Brunswick is part of the Philadelphia DMA FiOS gives both Philadelphia and New York Local Channels plus SNY, Yes and MSG. I already get the Philadelphia local channels on Comcast why should I have to give them up to switch to FiOS? All Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia has to do to be carried in Middlesex County is black out the 76ers games to appease the NBA and far as i know their is no problem with the Phillies and Flyers being aired in Middlesex County.

Count me in the minority but it would be ok with me if the NASA channel was dropped. I, certainly, don't want it in HD over something far superior and useful like BBC America in HD.

African Movie Channel (AMC)
You have the Bollywood Channel, Spanish Channels and other foreign channels so why can't there be an African Channel? There are thousands of Africans here and it would be nice to be able to watch movies from Africa!
