Cancelled service, still getting billed

Verizon stopped my dsl service 1/19/2019, stating they no longer support copper. They continued to bill for it anyway which we paid through 4/6/2019. Prior to last bill of 4/6/2019 which was paid on 4/3/2019, I cancelled both dsl and landline service (end of March). Was told that a prorated credit would be applied and show up online within a day. Not that I really expected any credit, when checking the online account info the next day, it indicated that our service was cancelled due to non-payment (not true). Today, I get an email indicating that my current bill is $(19.69) but no payment due. Please advise if I am to expect this credit by check.
