Contacted Verizon and they told me my contract auto-renewed for 2 years and I would be charged $$$ early termination fee if I were to cancel my contract now. I've never called in or confirmed any contract extension. I called Verizon today and they said they automatically renew all contracts and do not need the consent of the account holder?? I mentioned to the rep that it shouldn't be legal and she scoffed and said they wouldn't be auto-renewing contracts if it weren't legal. I've seen other threads of the same issue and people have mentioned contacting the FCC. Has anyone been successful in having the early termination fee removed for an unauthorized contract extension?
