So I called VZ and asked why my bill went up $10 a month only to be informed that they jacked up the equipment rental costs. I calmly asked why wouldn't I be locked into the total agreed amount for the life of my contract and was told I am locked into the services amount but not equipment rental. So in essence VZ could raise the equipment rental costs any darn time they choose to do so and the customer is locked into a service contract..... I'm dumbfounded by those who regulate VZ and let them get away with this sort of thing.

I really don't understand why you would be dumbfounded, or even surprised. Verizon has never included the cost of the equipment in the package deals as far as I know, it has always been separate. Have you bothered to look at the agreement you agreed to with your contract? I bet it doesn't mention a thing about the hardware being included. I have had FiOS now for seven years, several times the prices have changed for the hardware. Just a fact of life; I don't like it, but Verizon has the right to do it, at some point they may reach a price level that I will just refuse to pay, and then I will go to another provider. You have that same option.
Just my $0.02 worth, I know you aren't going to like it, but I really don't thing there is anything you (or I or anyone else) can do other than leave. Complaining here isn't going to change a thing.

That's odd.... they told me that they haven't raised prices in the last 5 years and you stated you have had several in the last 7 years.... BTW, did you forget your VZ tagline? (rolling eyes)

You can roll your eyes all you want, and stick your head in the sand, you appear to be good at at that, but that is not going to change the facts.

Price increases are crappy, noone likes them. I think as long as they are infrequent and modest, then it's easier to live with.
Switch over to Directv.....then have fun with all of the fees they change and jack up like crazy. I dont think you'll be complaning about fios then.
