Improper FIOS cable installation
DanDynamic1
Newbie

Had a landscaper do some basic work using an edging tool around mulch bed. Lost FIOS service. It was determined that when the FIOS line was installed it was only buried about 1.25 inches below surface when it is supposed to be at least 3".

Verizon tech that found the issue even stated it was not buried properly.

Several weeks later we get a bill from a third party company called CMR Claims in Oklahoma City OK for $236.57.

Called them and got a very rude "collections agent" who at one point even laughed and said "Verizon does you a favor by burying the line, they don't have to, they could just let the cable lay on the ground"!!

Just pay the bill since you did not call 811 before digging! Since when is a 1.5" edging tool considered digging?

Called Verizon FIOS directly and they said there is nothing they can do since it is billed by a third party.....THEIR selected vendor!!

Did some research and found many complaints against CMR in OK for exactly the same situations. Filed with the BBB and they have several complaints also but yet Verizon continues to use this company and then claims no responsibility for the installation of their own cable.

Time to look at switching to ComCast
