I came home on Monday to find a fiber lateral that used to run across my front yard had snapped for some reason. It was laying across my driveway and yard.
I tried calling 1-800-837-4966. After finally reaching a representative, he said he couldn't send anyone to fix it unless service was down. I thought it was my neighbor's drop, but the rep checked and said their ONT was active. There is also a microcell on the pole where the cable went, so the rep transferred me to Verizon Wireless thinking it might be their fiber. After a long time on hold, I gave up.
I've since followed the broken cable up the pole and noted that the end that would plug into the fiber junction box is disconnected, so the drop in question appears to have been abandoned.
How do I get in contact with someone who can send repair people to remove the mess of downed cable from my yard?
This issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent.
