Wronly reported to Credit Buerau!

Verizon has wrongly reported me to Credit Buerau on a closed account.  Has been on phone call for more than 3 hours and got redirected to 5 different departments.  Looking through the forum, looks like I am not the first victim of this. 

What are my options here and how can I get this resolved?  Any help is greatly appretiated.
