I have the 1st gen pixel and I would like some information on a when the RCS universal profile will be enabled on the Verizon network. I have read online from different sources that Verizon is on board for the implementation but can't find any information as to when we can expect this to happen.

It's important you are provided with correct information and I certainly want to make sure I'm able to address that for you. We don't have information regarding the RCS information profile. However, you can stay in the loop by visiting our news page at http://www.verizon.com/about/news/

We value your feedback as Pixel users, dondon11 and denhamlevi. I have lifted this up to our internal software team here, and they advised they will reach out to Google for more information.

My understanding is this is completely on Google, which updates your Pixel directly.

The RCS profile is already deployed as far as Google's responsibility is concerned. There are already carriers using the service in the US. At this point it's on the carriers to adopt the tech and implement it on their networks.

Please express how much this would mean to the consumers and business customers. RCS is much better than SMS and is greatly needed, especially with today's phones and the way we communicate.

Sprint is already On Board with universal profile, and as of about a day ago TMobile is hopping on board in about two to three months. Verizon needs to step up their messaging game; I can see alot of customers leaving if they don't, over to Sprint or T-Mobile.
Verizon is the leader in Mobile device technology, they should have had RCS & universal profile first.
Hop to it Verizon. Customers are waiting.

I agree! I get excited every time there is an Android Messages and Carrier Services update, then it appears RCS is not enabled. Verizon is too hung up on their Messages+ application. We want a solution that works across all carriers, not just Verizon. We also want to have choices on which messaging application we can use.

I’m guessing RCS is going to use data, free data.
BTW it’s fully integrated on ATT and unlocked phones and works great. If your a teenager it’s all kinds of fun. As an adult...meh, do I really need to send gifs?

Jumping on the RCS bandwagon. Verizon needs to stop trying to make Messages+ happen, it's not going to happen. Just adopt and implement RCS technology like many of the other carriers are/will be and people like us will continue to pay you lots of money every month.

I made an account specifically for this purpose. Why in the heck aren't you on board with what is clearly what people want. I don't want to, but T-Mobile is looking pretty good right about now.
