How to removing voicemail indicator from deactivated Pixel 2?

I just deactivated my Pixel 2XL and activated an iPhone 11 in its place. Unfortunately, the Pixel had the voicemail indicator (looks like 2 circles connected by an underscore) showing on the lock screen and at the top of the display at the time of deactivation.

On the iPhone, I've connected to voicemail and deleted the 1 message. How do I remove the indicator from the Pixel (which I still use as a wifi device)?

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings

     > Apps & notifications.
  3. Tap See all xx apps.
  4. Locate then select the app you wish to reset.

If system apps aren't visible, tap the Menu icon

     (upper-right) > Show system.

If troubleshooting for Voicemail, tap the Phone app

then follow steps 5-9. Once reset, you you must activate Voicemail.
  5. Tap Force stop.
  6. Tap OK.
  7. Tap Storage & cache.
  8. Tap Clear storage.

This option may not be available for some apps.

Resetting an app doesn't remove saved items on the device (texts, pictures, voicemails, etc.); however, saved passwords for Wi-Fi, settings, backgrounds, etc. within the app itself may be reset.
  9. Tap OK.
