Why Pixel keeps saying "lost internet connection" but is connected

For the past 10 days or so I keep getting the above message, whether phone is in pocket, on desk or on table, home or away, when LTE signal is strong or even on strong home network. How do I fix or at least turn off that annoying notification? I have added very few (3-4) "apps" to phone.
