how do i remove the gmail widget

I pasted the Gmail widget to my screen and then changed my mind. Now I can't seem to remove it by dragging up to "Remove." What are my other options for removing it?

Jhq, I change out my widgets periodically on my smartphone so I can understand the need for not wanting a certain widget on your main screen anymore. We'll ensure we find the proper fix for this together. Have you at all attempted to restart your Pixel 2 or perform a Soft Reset and then try again?
