1080P content

Reading release notes, I see that there will be 1080P capability. Does Verizon plan to stream real 1080P? If so, how would that work?

This is a step in that direction... kinda similar to how HD content works now... you need a display that can render it... and click play... but not all boxes can do 1080p as a side note.

Yes, I understand. This past November I upgraded my set to a 55 inch 1080P, and I have just today received notice that a 7232 box is on the way, replacing my 7216. Amazon delivered the terabyte external drive today, the WD you mentioned. Lets GO!

I understand your topic is really IMG 1.9, but I thought you might comment regarding the plans for this. As you likely know, your competitors in the Clarke belt are beaming down 1080P, and the FIOS network has all the necessary bandwidth.

I am responsible for all our entertainment and media products... so this is fair game.  Remember that resolution is only one factor in the "wow" picture quality... if you don't have enough bits to paint all those lines in the resolution... then it is still garbage.  High resolution also requires high bit rates to get the true bang for your buck.

I do understand that. Going back to the day CD's were new in audio, there were a lot of them that sounded lousy. And to date, I have not been wildly impressed with blue ray disks. 

There are live sports programs in HD that look great, and some are mediocre depending on the cameras, the uplink, etc.

FIOS is delivering a good picture in general, but I still want to see the envelope pushed. As I see it, FIOS has some basic advantages that should permit you to deliver  a "wow" picture, and I'm ready to see it here in Dallas.
