Hi. I just received my starter kit and, for now, it is a non-starter. There are no open LAN connections on my Verizon router into which to connect the gateway device. What do I do?

If you are saying that the 3 or 4 LAN ports on the router are occupied, then get a simple switch with 4 or 8 ports, plug the switch into one of the router LAN ports, and plug the remaining devices including the gateway into the switch. There are no losses associated with the switch and you will obtain the additional ports you require.
