People complained so much about the guide being to bright that they changed it.
I loved the 1.9 guide. It was bright and colorful and full of life. I had my tv settings correct. Wasnt to bright, wasnt to dark, was perfect. I bet a lot of those who complained about it had their tv color and other options up to high.
Now that its back to the old dark colors its boring, dreary, and depressing. I have never liked dark stuff.
I wish Verizon was able to have an option to choose between the 2 color schemes like Bright House used to do.
They had a blue, red, and green color scheme.
I'll be on the complaining side now. Its to dark Verizon. Find something in between the 2 or find a way for us to choose.
For those who dont have the update yet here it is.
Thanks for posting beetlejuice. I am in VHO 5 and have yet to receive the upgrade. Hopefully we are next.
The fact they changed how the guide looks is proof that the sycophantic customers who are always defending verizon's actions no matter what were lying about the fact that the majority of the customers all loved the 1.9 IMG when in fact the majority of the customers hated it. I've never seen so much hatred for a guide before and the fact that a lot of people dropped verizon as their tv provider because of the 1.9 IMG was something that affected verizon and forced them to make those changes. Dumb remarks by people who act as if this is their own personal website where they defend everything verizon does by saying things as "i don't watch the guide i watch tv" where they are the only ones who end up laughing at their own supposed jokes were flat out lying as the changes to the guide prove that verizon did listen to the complaints and took the criticism hard so they completely altered it.
I believe that where VZ failed was in not recognizing that people perceive things differently, and then providing a method to adapt the guide to one's individual needs. Some people have eyes sensitive to light, and others less so. And some have difficulties with certain colors. Just as we have adjustments to our TVs to alter the picture to suit our tastes, there should be some sort of control for the guide parameters as well.
As an update since my VHO is the last to get the software revisions, the new revision downloaded last night and I have to agree that it is quite dark. Although I am not a purist, I do like my TV to be properly adjusted for the best picture, and that usually means trying various settings to find the sweet spots for contrast, brightness and the rest. My current settings that emphasize black level make the 1.9.1 guide very dark, and colors difficult to distinguish. I stand by my previous post - there needs to be a menu slection to allow a step-up process for brightening or darkening the guide, maybe like a toaster: light, medium, or dark.

We also got the new IMG version here on Long Island yesterday. It works fine for us but even keeping in mind that users typically come to this forum to complain, not compliment, it seems that the toaster-like option you suggested would be a worthwhile idea.
I thought the other guide was fun, nice blue colors and sharp, there really was no need for a change. As for the new guide I have no problem with it either. They should make available both guides so people can customize it like skins you'd see for certain computer programs. An option of 2 or 3 different guide templates would be fantastic. Great job though adding the remove all from dvr feature from the recently deleted folder, it was a pain to delete everything one by one by one.
