Nook Tablet - not connecting anymore

I have a Nook Tablet, which connected and worked great when I first got it.  Now, it will no longer connect.  My other devises connect fine, including my Nook Reader.  The error msg I get says:  Change your security settings from WEP to WPA or WPA2 on your wireless access point or router.   Why would I have to do this now and not originally.  The tablet connects right up when I take it to a BN store.

I'm not familiar with the Nook but most wireless devices have a way to delete a wireless connection, then re-connect and enter the password.

Try these steps

http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/NOOK-Simple-Touch-Support/Nook-WiFi-Connection-Issues-amp-Ver...

Nook WiFi Connection Issues & Verizon Actiontec Router

  • Go to your router's IP address (you may have to call your cable provider to obtain this if you don't have it or simply connect through the computer wired to the router)
  • Type in your user name and password
  • Turn on your nook
  • Click on your network within wireless settings and "Forget" the network
  • Go back to the main settings page, go to Device Info, About Your Nook, and locate the Wi-Fi MAC address
  • (This part is router specific but if you can figure out where this information is in your router, the steps should be the same) Go to Advanced --> IP Address Distribution
  • Hit the button that says Connection List
  • Look for your Nook's MAC address on your list. If it is there, press the Edit button (the notepad with the pencil) and click the box that says static IP.
  • If it is not there, scroll to the bottom and hit New Static Connection. Enter a host name (no spaces), the IP address that you want to use (be sure that it's a valid address. Look at your other addresses on the connection list page to see one within the correct number range that is available), and that MAC address from your Nook.
  • Hit apply, go back to your Nook's wireless settings, re-enter your password, and you should be good to go!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

for hostname just use  "nook", ip address of 192.168.1.50 and your mac address.

WPA2 is the highest level of security out of the three right now. You can use the VZ in-home agent to change

your security settings. I did and it was a piece of cake and the nook is back and more secure now. Good luck!
