Verizon Alarm in my New House

In the basement of the house I recently purchased there is Verizon Alarm pulled in and appears to be on. When I unplugged it beeps and goes to battery power. I do not have a plan with an alarm, and wish to remove this from my basement. Can I just remove the device, and if so, what do I do with it?

Does not sound like a VHM&C item. You should call the general support line for Verizon and have them send a tech out to remove the alarm.

It sounds like that it is the battery backup unit that powers a fios optical network terminal that is probably on the outside of your house. If you use fios you can not remove it. If you do not have fios and you do not want the bbu call 1-800-verizon to have it removed.
