I've tried, unsuccessfully, to sign up for this service on the self-serve website. Is there any way to place a call in to a LIVE person to sign up for Wifi Access ( @airports, hotels and bookstores)?

Thaymay - sorry that you are having problems accessing WiFi service. Do you have In Home Agent installed?

I'm not at my home computer, I'm at work. I saw the offer in my perks tab on the verizon self-serve site and since Im traveling tomorrow, thought it would be an ideal service. Are you telling me the only way I can have this service is through the home agent?
I suggest you give In Home Agent a try. It has an application to easily enroll in the WiFi service.
