can't connect

My laptop suddenly can't connect to the internet anymore. It's a MacBook Pro, OS 10.8.2. If i just try to connect, i get an error message "connection timeout occurred". If i use the assistant, I get a message that the password is incorrect. Is this a network problem or a settings problem with the laptop?

It is a setting on the laptop problem.
