dvd player ethernet connection

My son received a new wireless dvd player for christmas. We have a wireless router (327w) and after a lot of searching for info we finally got it connected. He figured he woould be better off with an ethernet  connection so we ran the cable but now were having trouble getting a connection with that ????? any help would be greatly appreciated...

What is the Make and Model of the DVD Player? There should be some step by step instructions in the manual or online a the manufacturer website for a wired connection. Should be some steps in the On Screen Menu for the DVD Player.
