If the font size of the 1.9 guide is too small, you can try putting the guide into SD mode. SD mode causes the guides and menus to display in 4:3 format (to fit an SD TV), but it also causes the fonts to be somewhat larger and more spaced out, which should help with readability.

To put the guide in SD mode, press Menu, select Settings, select Video Settings then select Graphics Settings and choose SD.
