verizon modem/wireless router combo

I tried to use my linkys broadband router to set up wireless. It did not work so I got ahold of tech support to "bridge" the westell modem but that did not work either, the modem went into a tizzy and kept blinking on and off real fast and would not quit. I then put all settings back to the default which allows it to work fine. Then I went and ordered the  verizon modem/wireless router combo to replace the stand alone westell 6100 modem  and would like to know if getting this up and running is as easy as what it should be or, do I have to go into settings and change stuff? If so what are the steps? Thanks
