Has anyone had experiance with setting up a third part dsl modem? Combo modem/wireless?
Some experience here. It's not too difficult. You'll need to note that Verizon uses the following settings.
VPI: 0
VCI: 35
Connection Type: PPPoE (Some areas, very rare, are DHCP)
PPPoE Username and Password: The same as your MyVerizon login.
Most modems will configure much of this automatically. The rest, once the basics are set up, is mostly boiling down to setting up the Wi-FI network with the name and password you want to use, setting it to use WPA2, then configuring all of your devices.
Many modems/gateways also come with setup wizards which will help you.
