I got the FIOS 1Gig just a few weeks back and just started to test the speed and latency and see it's all over.
I am running dedicated CAT6 line from the router to my computer.
There may be other wireless devices ON at the same time but not doing any 4k streaming ....
I have run multiple tests at different times using different servers and different packet sizes. I also setup auto-repeat test using testmy.net
There are periods of day when I get only ~300 Mbps.
At best, and this is mostly late at night, I can hit 800Mbps - so I am not going to complain about that....even if it's still slower than advertised but the fact that mostly during 9AM to 4PM EST I drop well below 500Mbps ...it bugs me
Also, latency is an issue sometimes....
Just a wild guess.... being in NJ and highly congested area ....is this due to all the pople logging in to work from home? SHould I really seeing such impact?
If you believe this is something else - I will open a ticket, but for now I am willing to wait patiently as I understand we are dealing with unique situation globally.
Thank you !
I'm sure the added internet usage from everyone being home doesn't help. Also remember, not all speed test servers are equipped to test a gigabit connection. I would also suspect websites are not prioritizing speed test traffic during a pandemic. What issues are you having with latency?
I have awful speeds right now.

Maybe not surprised about the servers in Asia having large numbers but surprised that relatively local (East USA) servers have large deviation.
the reason for my surprise around the speeds is the huge inconsistency.
I could accept 20% drop but we are talking more than HALF the speed for hours.
I didn't expect 1Gig but was hoping for solid 750 and up - consistently, at any time with any test server with any packet sizes.
.... the huge variability in my speed - sometimes as low as 300Mbs - is something concerning.....
I just got my fios today and same issues. getting 130s down and 164 up. My optimum was faster than this. I live in NJ as well.
