I cancelled my land line and retained the TV and internet. The back up battery alarm for the phone continues to beep. We have removed and returned the battery over a year ago. We have tried to stop the beeping after speaking with Verizon service agents and nothing has worked. This is a big problem because there does not appear to be a fix. The neighbors have complained to building management and we have received no help in this situation. What can we do?

Good Luck
I have the same problem. I have a different unit that what is described in http://www.instructables.com/id/Silencing-the-Verizon-Battery-Alarm/
I tried the instructions at
https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/battery-backup
I tried pressing the silent alarm button for 5 seconds and silent alarm button & battery button together. The unit rebooted when I pressed the two buttons together, but this will only silence the unit for 24 hours, after that it beeps every 15 minutes.
I don't need a battery back up, all of my home hones require power.
The shame is at one time there was a site that showed how to remove the whole shebang but I cannot find the website with the step by step instructions.
my suggestion would be to find the buzzer unit and disable it.
If it’s beeping it has a speaker box somewhere in the ONT or along side it.
find the sound unit and clip it off or spray some glue or other substance to silence it forever.
just a few suggestions in addition to the links I gave previously.
