Cable modem and DSL
Alexis111
Newbie

Hello, I’ve recently moved to a new area and had to switch ISPs. I have a Linksys CM3008 Modem and a Netgear router. My self installation kit never arrived. I’ve been on several calls with support to get my internet up and running. I’ve told each one of them the brand and model of my modem and router. The internet “should have” been working for several days now. Am I missing something here? Is this modem not compatible with Verizon high speed internet?

That modem is a cable modem. Cable modems use docsis which is a different standard than what Verizon uses. It won't work with Verizon FiOS or HSI (DSL).

Now I'm not sure if you have FiOS or DSL but you Netgear router would be compatible with FiOS if you have an ethernet connection from your FiOS ONT. That is the main  FiOS box which probably in a utility area or your basement.

If you have HSI(DSL) the Netgear router would also be compatible but you would also need a DSL modem from either Verizon or you could buy your own.
