I have new Verizon DSL service and my computer works to the internet. My wifes laptop connects to the router but not to the internet. In the Network and Sharing Center on my computer the access is internet. On my wifes laptop the access is local only.
I have tried everything I can think of and after 45 minutes with the super tech girl in the Phillipines, who said that the laptop was not working properly, I attempted to use the Verizon support on the web site. After an hour of being told to unplug the router over and over I gave up.
The laptop worked at our last location which was FIOS and we have taken it back there to see if it still works which it does with no problems.
Hopefully, someone here can tell me how to change the access to internet on the laptop. Mean while were looking at the cable company and thier internet service.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Bert

Are you trying to make a wired or wireless connection?
If wireless, did you set the SSID and security key for the DSL router?

Did you change the security key also?
Also verify that the security type and encrption type on your computer and router match.

Good advise from Walt, If it still does not connect (I assume you are running win 7) delete any outdated networks: see example http://i.technet.microsoft.com/ff847520.Davies_CG_0710_Fig6(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg
IF the issue persists, delete the current wireless network and setup again per instructions via windows help.
Do you have any custom settings on your router? (such as hidden SSID)
