In Brief: An issue with Google Chromecast and Google Home devices has been identified. It is affecting multiple router brands including Verizon's FiOS Quantum Gateway. Details If users are mentioning device connectivity problems on the 5GHz radio and they have Google Chromecast or Google Home hardware, it is possible that these Google devices are impacting the connectivity of other devices. Chromecast devices occasionally generate large amounts of traffic after returning from sleep states. This traffic can be misread by routers as malicious and block traffic on the Wi-Fi network. Workaround: Consistent device connection should be restored by turning off their Chromecast and Google Home devices when they are not in use, instead of allowing them to enter sleep mode. Allow 1-2 minutes after powering off any Chromecast devices in the home for other devices to reconnect. Reboot the router if there is no apparent change. Fix Google has identified the issue and will release a fix to roll out as a Google Play service update. Google Support Page

The fix went out yesterday to those with the google products as well as Asus also sent out a fix. This issue with Google (Alphabet) and other router manufacturers who are showing this issue and there may be others, are trying to get the situation fixed.
the problem with Verizon Fios brand of quantum routers made by Greenwave has still not been determined to be the google issue. In any case Fios still has to put out a fix for the router.
I figured out the final step in the solution to fix the sporadic / dropped wi-fi issues... at least this worked like a charm for me and several friends... all of which use the Chrome browser... some have Google Chromecast / Home devices and others have Amazon Fire Stick / Echos... some have Android phones and some have iPhones... now we all have rock solid wi-fi for the past 5 days with no drops whatsoever. (Yes, I've read every solution thus far regarding Chromecast/Home mDNS 'DDOS', Google Play Services updates, G1100 firmware updates, etc.)
1) On each computer on your network, open the Chrome browser.
2) Cut and paste this link into address bar:
chrome://flags/#load-media-router-component-extension
3) Next to the entry "Load Media Router Component Extension", change the setting to 'Disable'
4) Click relaunch at bottom of page. (Chrome should re-launch with flag showing 'Disabled').
5) Reboot your router (and any bridge).
That's it... should be good to go with no more sporadic wi-fi issues.
