Connecting my DSL modem to new computer

I just got a new computer and have a question about connecting my modem to it.  Can I just plug the ethernet cable into the new computer and connect to the internet, or will I need to start from scratch using the Verizon installation cd?

That is the only thing you need to do. Just connect the cable and off you go.
