If your service is down for an extended time (usually a day or two) they will credit you that much time on your bill, or perhaps a little more if you ask. Usually being down for hours on that one-off occurrence will be not worth chasing down. The opportunity cost is too great chasing pennies unless you have a circuit with an SLA.
