I have seen a couple of topics on adding a faster router to an Actiontec gateway for FiOS, but I am wondering are these instructions the same for DSL?
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/verizonfios/3.0_Networking#12506
So basically what I am wanting to do is turn OFF the wireless capability of the Actiontec and just use it as a modem, with an external dual-band router attached to handle all wireless and LAN connectivity.
Thanks,
Ed
#1 You could setup the second router to act a Hub/Switch/WAP (the FAQ that you linked to).
#2 Perhaps you could convert the modem into acting only as a Modem.
a) Here is a FAQ about that

b) I am not sure if this FAQ would apply to your modem combo.
