My internet went down for awhile on Sunday night. Ever since then I have a hard time connecting to my Verizon homepage or any page with a lot of download information. It can take up to 30 minutes to open each page. I have called Verizon twice in the past two days and they keep saying there are aware of the problem and it should be fixed by 1pm today. I am in the Pasadena, MD area. Is anyone else having this problem?
#1 Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Remove that line. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.
#2 Can you provide the Transceiver Statistics from your modem?
#3 If you don't how to get that info from the modem:
a) It would help tp know the brand and model of your modem.
b) If a RJ-45 WAN port router that is connected to the dsl modem, what is the brand and model of the DSL modem?
Switch to Cox-- thats what I am about to do. Had this problem a few years ago... it took Verizon 1 year and 5 months to finally send someone out. Verizon put all their resources into FIOS and there is only 1 copper line technician in the Hampton Roads area. I now have the problem again and after 45 minutes on the phone, the guy disconnected my. I have tried 3 differenct modems and my connection speed drops to from 3mbs to 30k. Support is no help. If you stay with Verizon, you just have to live with it. I am going to go out and buy a Cable modem today and switch. Ten years of nothing but problems with Verizon DSL -- the most unreliable high speed service there is.
