DSL question

I recently placed an order for DSL self installation kit.  I plan to set it up myself when it arrives, but Verizon told me that they are still sending a technician to my place to make sure everything works ok on the day of activation.  They said he will be here anytime between 8 am - 5 pm, but I don't need a technician to come.  I am not able to wait around for him, and I don't want him to come anyway, like I had said.  Is it mandatory that he shows up or can I tell Verizon for him not to come?

I never had a Verizon guy show up at my house when it was initially setup.  But I say if you can get him out there then do it.  Because later on when you have a problem with your service (and you will absolutely have a problem with your service at some time) you will never get someone to actually come out to help.  You'll be forced to call into support which will be someone in India or who knows where and they will say "Your line stats look good.  Please reboot your modem."  When you tell them that did not help they will tell you it's your PC and you should buy a new one.

So if they're willing to send someone to your house then I would take advantage of that and get him out there while you can.  He can at least make sure everything is working correctly and if it's not fix it then and there.
