I just recently switched to DSL because my previous provider kept jacking up the prices and I was feed up with it. My boyfriend has DSL for over a year and I tried it over at his house and it seemed pretty decent. So I decided to get the exact same plan, however for some reason mine seems to be so much slower than his. In terms of viewing videos on YouTube for example his loads faster than mine. Is there a reason for that? I've install everything correctly by following the installation guide.
Also, i'm having problems connecting the modem to my wireless router. It works fine when I hook it directly to the computer's network card, but when I hook it to my router it doesn't work. I tried unplugging the router (which usually works) and I also rest the router and it still doesn't work. Any solutions?
There are lots of potential issues with apparently connection speed. You have not provided very much information to go on.
1). What Verizon Plan do you actually have?
2). What speeds does your Transceiver Statistics report?
3). Have you run the High speed Internet Optimizer?
4). Do you have anti-virus software and/or a firewall in operation?
5). Have you run a speed test such as ndt.anl.gov?
I'll let others comment on the connecting the wireless access point. It isn't as simple as just connecting it.
