My mom has Verizon DSL using Outlook express. She loves her email, but recently started timing out on send requests (with attachments) saying the SMTP server has not responded in 60 seconds. She doens't use yahoo for anything but when i looked at her incoming and outgoing server names they are yahoo.verizon.xxxxx. Wondered if I could just point them to the normal incoming.verizon.net names and work? Thoughts?
thanks,
Jeff

If her account is portalled with Yahoo, the Yahoo servers are necessary. When you migrate to Yahoo, all of the mail is handled by their servers from that point on. If she wants to use Verizon's servers, she'd need to migrate to AOL.
It is important to note that if she migrates away from Yahoo, all content that is on Yahoo's servers (mail, contacts) will STAY on Yahoo's servers. Something about the way it's set up, Verizon never gets that data back.
