Supposed to get 3 Mbps But currently get 1.543 Mbps D/l speed. upload is roughly .345 Mbps
Speed test was done via my.verizon

Tech said the line itself was fine. Laptop software wise is usually kept cleaned up. I clean viruses via software and manually.
I used VZ in home agent. I am tech smart but cannot understand why this issue is happening. When i download movies and files i seem to be actually stuck around 180kbps. I dont know why. I had an older wirless connection that i downloaded 512Kbps-1.1Mpbs roughly depending on file and server. My laptop has potential to get more speed than what i am getting obviously. So why is it so slow. I am paying for the 3Mbps and would like to see that speed.
Also i am thinking of making this connection wireless. I would like to see this resolved before I spend the money on an N band router. i am thinking of hooking an xbox 360, laptop, ipad, and using the desktop as a homebase for the router. But it is pointless to do so without 3Mbps.
All help would be appreciated
Thank you for your time,

Your speeds look like you've been provisioned under 1.5Mbps/384kbps for some reason. Visit http://192.168.1.1/ and choose System Monitoring, then Advanced Monitors. From there, choose Transceiver Statistics and post up the information you see on that screen. Should you need a password, try the following:
admin/password
admin/password1
admin/admin
admin/admin1
A 1.5Mbps shouldn't have an issue running multiple devices, but of course just anticipate the connection being split up amongst each device if they start downloading or uploading at the same time. Gaming-wise, it's fine, but don't expect to be hosting all the time with the lower upload speed if you're playing on the Xbox.
i got by with admin and password. but the system seems to be stuck on http://192.168.1.1/htmlV/PasswordChange.asp and it wont let me into anything else.
Tried it on both windows explorer and firfox browsers lol on IE its flashes as if the page is being reloaded every second
Change the password to something else on the modem then, and make sure you remember it. It won't let you proceed until the password is something else.
i couldnt change the password. i tried that. i got a new modem/ router netgear modem router dgn2200 to be exact. still having the same issue. i actually got like 30 kb/s better 😛 but the issue is still the fact that its not running where it should be. Now i can edit the setting on this modem manually. is there anything i can edit in this modem that can help.
my modem says its downstream rate is 1792 kbps and upstream is 448 kbps its line attenuation is 60.0 db down and 31.5 up. noise margin is 18.3 db.

If you look deeper into your Netgear, do you see any information such as Margin, Attenuation, and power? I'm looking for that page's contents if one exists in the Netgear. The Verizon-provided router does have such a page, and a factory reset of the ActionTec should allow you to change the password off the bat as well.
