Ethernet doesn't work on network extender (WCB6200Q)
TheCoastalElite

I installed the 6200Q extender in the basement where we have a weak/spotty signal from the main router upstairs. It connects properly to the main upstairs router and wifi signal is now fairly decent.

However, I really need a hard-wired ethernet connection because I frequently livestream. The problem: the ethernet connection on the extender doesn't work. It gives a "self assigned" IP address when I connect it to my Macbook. Any ideas on why it won't generate a proper IP (and associated info to properly connect to the internet); and what I can do, short of running a 100ft long ethernet cable from upstairs?

Besides ethernet as a type of wired network media, there is also:

#1 Using existing TV wires to create a network, called Moca.

#2 Using existing power wires to create a network, this using something called the HomePlug.

#3 And using existing phone wires to create a network, called HomePNA.
