We live in Forest Falls, Ca. and have always had good internet service from verizon. For about a week now, our speed, which is always 1.02 MBPS, has dropped to 0.10 MBPS download, and 0.09 upload. My wife depends on the normal speed for her vpn communication with her work. Our ping speed has been running about 1219 ms for a week now. Everything we try to do takes forever. We have more than one computer, and they all have this problem. We tried our cell phone hot spot, and everything is a lot better, but the speed is 0.98 download, and 0.54 upload, still too slow for what we need. What can we do?

What modem do you currently use from Verizon? Have the computers been checked for anything that hogs the upload, like torrent or other file sharing clients? Maybe backup software?
