All of a sudden by 5GHZ cannot keep an internet connection. 2G works just fine. If I power cycle the router, or I disable and then re-enable 5G in router setup, the 5G internet will work for 1 minute, the it disappears again.
What idea how to fix? Is my router dead?
Quick questIon. Do you have that dumb Verizon fios network protection on?
if so turn it off. It causes more harm than good.
now if it’s off it could be a fix to simply change the SSID name in the router to another name like myfios5 etc. then restart the router and see if you see your new network name and connect. If it stays stable it’s fixed.
another trick to try if you don’t want to do that is on the device you want the 5 Ghz to simply remove the connection and then scan again for your network. Select the band and then log in. See if that helps.
the third thing is to change the wifi channel in your router to a less crowded one if there is one available.
see if any of these fixes work prior to replacing the router.
HiJonJones,
Thanks for all of the tips.
Network protection isnt on.
Changing SSID, reconnecting 5G, changing channel, restores internet for 1 minute, Then it goes back to saying "no internet connection."
I just purchased a g3100, hopefully that fixes my issue, and gives better wifi coverage.
Hopefully my last suggestion of a new router fixes the issue.
