You are correct the Quantum Router wireless signals failed to meet my bedroom in the back of my house which previously had signal with the Actiontec. There is no antenna on the Quantum or a possibilty for external antenna which may be the problem. If you download a signal wireless strength app on your ios or android and compare signals for the quantum and actiontec the proof is evident. Quantum router does not seem to be so quantum and they charge a fee to have it if you did not buy it outright. I may switch back to my already bought actiontec if verizon does not resolve issue.

New FIOS customer here.  Used to have ASUS RT-AC68u on Comcast (awesome WiFi), now have G1100 on FIOS.

WiFi is not as good (pretty bad outside), but so far acceptable inside.  I spent a lot of time locking down security on the router, and recall seeing power settings somewhere on the G1100 for WiFi.  Mine were already at 100%.

Will try to get by with G1100 WiFi, but keeping my ASUS router nearby just in case.

Same problem.  The quantum router has less than half the range.  My Ring doorbells don't get signal and I can only use devices in the center part of our 1st floor.  Verizon - you need to provide a solution to this.

The only solution is to purchase a better higher end router. Make sure it has external antennas and is to the higher wifi standards. It is a known fact (google it) these greenwave fios branded G1100 Quantum Gateway Router is junk on wifi.

verizon does not guarantee wifi. Just up to speeds on a fully wired connection.

FIOS did or does sell a sort of "mesh" booster for the WiFi. It works with this router. It requires access to a cable-tv signal (input to a cable box for instance).. or an ethernet connection and it becomes part of the router (same IP, same ID, same PW). It can be located at a distance from the router.

I have my Quantum router at one end of the house, and the FIOS booster at the other end. Good WiFi coverage anywhere in the house (on 3 floors.)

This is it: https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/fios-network-extender/

I found one on CraigsList locally for $50 from someone who went to Optimum. I'm sure they are available at places like eBay, and it appears Amazon carries it as an Actiontec brand item for more money..

Setup was non-existent. Plugged it in and it started working, taking it's settings off the Quantum router.

The network extenders although can be purchased cheaper on different sites, verizon sells them for $99 which in certain cases does not actually function as it should.

on other help sites the extenders at times shut down and change ip addresses.

Google the issues.

the Orbi mesh verizon sells is not the same as the Netgear product since fios had netgear lock down its firmware so a customer who is going to spend $$$$$ on it should get the netgear version.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but aren't there two Verizon products called "Network Extenders"?

One is Fios Network Extender WCB6200Q

Which appears to actually be an Actiontec WCB6200Q.

The other (earlier I believe) is Fios Network Extender WCB3000N

Basically the same as Actiontec WCB3000N  (https://www.actiontec.com/products/home-networking/wcb3000n/)

Available now on Amazon for $16.50 - https://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-Dual-Band-Wireless-Extender-Ethernet/dp/B00FKTMWDE

Neither seems to be a Netgear product. I tried Googling them, figuring if problems were happening they'd be on the first few pages.. all I can find is reviews (generally favorable) and ones for sale.  Do you have a link we could use?

https://www.netgear.com/orbi/

The above link is for the non verizon branded orbi mesh system

https://www.verizon.com/home/netgear-orbi-home-wifi-system/

the link above is for the fios version which is not the same as the original netgear orbi.

I did not call the fios network extenders “netgear” please read carefully.

if you googled you would have found the above sites in seconds. I stated there are issues with the fios network extenders losing connections. The ip address for devices to connect changes, or the units shut down. There are kudos for the seamless connections on setup. For the fios extenders but issues holding the connections with some users.

and finally.

https://safetomatic.com/best-wifi-extender-for-fios-verizon/

It pays to know the wording to get better results.
