Why is Verizon not letting me pick up the router from the store myself?. Instead it wants to mail it to me? Earlier, one person says self-installation is not an option. The next phone call one person says u can self-install. Another person says oh you can walk into the store and pick up, while another refutes it. Honestly, I have never had customer support where nobody knows what they are talking about, that too for a big enterprise like verizon. Ten people give 10 different answers to the same problem, but nobody can help with a solution.

I've had or helped with three FiOS installations - one for myself and two for my son and daughter. In my case (think back in the caveman days - early 2000s) there was no fiber run to my house, so that had to be installed by a Verizon tech. Since then, I've upgraded the service (for faster speed), which sometimes included a new router, which I self-installed.
As for my kids' houses, the places they bought had already had FiOS in them before. They both got self-install kits shipped to them. I don't recall any mention of picking up a kit in a store. The shipping was really quick though. It might have even been overnight shipping. My daughter's place needed some wiring moved, so she did have a tech come in for that. My son just hooked the router up to the ONT and was up in a few minutes.
