Getting Internet thru Ethernet or Coax?
Threlot
Newbie

Hello Guys

I would like to know if my Ethernet switch is on or am I getting internet thru Coax. I took out the Coax cable from the router and I still had Internet, but the "Ethernet" section states disconnected. Please advise.

I would ask what speed are you paying for. If less than 100/100 then it’s moca coaxial.

on new Fios installation it’s simply ethernet from the ONT to the router.

you also did not say if you have other services. But in any case if in doubt call 1-800-VERIZON and ask them.

Go to your ONT and see what lights are on. If MoCA light is green then you are on coax. If off and data/link light depending on model is on then you are on ethernet.

Also on back the router there are 2 light MoCA WAN and LAN. If WAN is on then you are on coax. If on ethernet the white plug is the WAN connection so there will be a green link light will be on.
